The Gatherings Screenplay
In a fractured contemporary society on the brink of collapse, one woman’s quiet act of resistance—bringing neighbors together in facilitated Gatherings—unleashes a movement that transforms democracy, spanning generations and reshaping what it means to govern ourselves.

Set across two timelines, The Gatherings follows Allison, a fired schoolteacher in 2024 Brooklyn who dares to believe that listening—deep, facilitated listening in small groups—could be the seed of societal renewal. As she convenes neighbors from different walks of life, their fragile conversations ignite a ripple effect that spreads across communities. The story is intercut with a luminous future in 2149, where participatory systems are the norm. There, a young boy sets out to piece together the forgotten origin of this global transformation. Through his eyes, we explore how it all began. With urgency, warmth, and radical hope, The Gatherings tells a story of human connection, unlikely beginnings, and the power of ordinary people to co-create a better world.
